Menopause Transition and Physical Function: What the Evidence Shows
This systematic review and meta-analysis of 26 observational studies found that premenopausal and perimenopausal women generally had stronger handgrip strength than postmenopausal women, while results for several adjusted self-reported outcomes were less certain. The authors note that age explains part of the observed differences, so the findings support attention to strength and balance rather than proving that menopause alone drives decline.
