Hysterectomy linked to faster artery hardening in older women.

This study found that hysterectomy, with or without ovarian removal, is associated with a faster progression of subclinical atherosclerosis in postmenopausal women. The risk is higher for those who had the surgery at an older age or many years prior, suggesting a need for long-term monitoring of cardiovascular health in these women.
