Hormone Therapy Does Not Reduce Heart Attack or Stroke Risk in Women With Existing Cardiovascular Disease.

This meta-analysis found no significant benefit of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) for secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease. There was no difference between MHT users and non-users in rates of non-fatal heart attack, cardiovascular death, or stroke. MHT should not be prescribed for cardiovascular protection in women who already have heart disease.
