Hormone Therapy Does Not Raise or Lower Dementia Risk

This Lancet systematic review and meta-analysis of over one million participants found no significant association between menopausal hormone therapy use and the risk of mild cognitive impairment or dementia in postmenopausal women. The authors conclude that MHT should not be prescribed for dementia prevention, but equally should not be withheld on that basis, reinforcing individualized decision-making based on other benefits and risks.
