Elevated FSH Associated with Cognitive Decline and Amyloid Burden
In a study of 884 postmenopausal women, elevated follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels—rather than low estradiol—were significantly linked to poorer cognitive performance and greater cerebral amyloid-beta deposition. This suggests FSH may be a key risk factor and potential therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease in late postmenopause.
