Early Initiation of Hormone Therapy Offers Safest Cardiovascular Profile
A comprehensive review of major trials confirms that menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) should not be prescribed solely for cardiovascular disease prevention. However, the 'timing hypothesis' suggests that initiating individualized, preferably transdermal, MHT early in the menopausal transition provides the greatest benefit for symptom relief and osteoporosis prevention with the lowest cardiovascular risk.
